Diane passed away peacefully in Winter Garden, FL on January 22, 2022. She was born on August 27, 1947, in Harvey, IL to Peter Hoeksema and Bernice H. (Rehberg) Hoeksema, She graduated from Thornton High School in Harvey, IL in 1955, then went on to college at Illinois State Normal University and graduated in 1959.
Diane spent most of her life as a legal secretary, and worked until her retirement with Shutts & Bowen, LLP in Orlando.
Diane loved nothing more than to make others laugh. She was unapologetically honest, and had a great sense of humor. She loved her family dearly, and thought her older brother, Pete, hung the moon. She was a very strong person, and made a good life for herself in Florida. She had a close-knit group of friends and would regale them with stories full of sarcasm and wit.
Diane had a strong faith, and was quite active in her church. Her faith carried and supported her throughout her life, and gave her great comfort and joy.
Diane's greatest love in life was the color purple. Since childhood, purple infused all aspects of her life. Purple scarves, purple flowers, purple tops; if it was purple, Diane loved it.
Diane was predeceased by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Karen J. Hoeksema of Dover, NH, her nieces Cathryn A.H. Martin of Gonic, NH, and Sarah J.H. Boyle of S. Berwick, ME, four great-nephews (Wesley, Owen, Caleb, and Simon), and one great-niece (Elise).
A memorial service for Diane will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, in Orlando, FL at 1pm on April 2, 2022.
