Dianne Maloney Rebello, 83, of Rancho Mirage, California, passed away on February 25, 2023. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother and is survived by her husband Ventura (Vic) Rebello, daughters Jennifer Rebello (Scott Mills), Laura Rebello (Joseph Cardoso), beloved grandson Ryan Mills, brother David (Nancy) Myrabo, and sister Patty Maloney. She was predeceased by her mother Catherine Maloney Myrabo, father Harold Maloney and step father Orville (Jerry) Myrabo.
Dianne was born in Perkinsville, NY on February 18, 1940. As a toddler, she moved to Winter Park, Florida with her parents, and growing up was surrounded by numerous cousins and family friends. In experiencing the loss of her father in early childhood, she developed and maintained a deep and abiding faith throughout her life. After graduating from Rollins College, she began teaching school at St Margaret Mary. Although her tenure there would be brief, her strict manner in the classroom was legendary, which she was quite delighted to learn about from former students years later during annual visits home.
It was 1963 when she met her beloved Vic, a 2nd Lieutenant stationed at Orlando Air Force Base. They were married a year later and embarked on a life of military service that included assignments in the Philippines, North Dakota, Nebraska, Alabama, and California. Throughout the years, Dianne supported Vic in his military and aerospace career and she was the commanding general and unifying force of the family. She loved to entertain and cook and insisted that we, as a family, be together at dinner every night. An avid reader of fictional spy and adventure novels, Dianne was a lifelong volunteer at the local library. She was also active in the Red Cross, the American Association of University Women and was a Girl Scout mom.
Dianne was beautiful, intelligent and kind. She had a calm demeanor, sharp wit, and a most soothing voice and sweet laugh. In recent years, she showed tremendous courage during her battle with Alzheimers. She fought hard to be present with us. And even as her memory faded, she remained true to her sweet spirit, was gracious, and loved by all who cared for her. Vic was by her side daily and helped with her care which is an enduring example to us all. Love never fails. Love is what remains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 18 at 9am at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church, 526 N Park Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789 on the grounds where she once taught school and in the same church she was married in years ago. Interment will follow at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park. The family is
