Dolores “Happy” McAuley

Dolores McAuley, 90, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in her home located in Orlando, Florida. Dolores was born March 29, 1935, in Portsmouth, Virginia to John K. Mullen, Sr. and Blanche Mullen. 

Dolores was a loving wife to Lawrence “Mac” McAuley. Having married in 1972 until the passing of Mac in 2005. Dolores is survived by her brother, John Mullen, Jr. (spouse Dianne Mullen), Austin, TX; her children, Deborah Meyer (spouse Francis Meyer) and Jeffrey Raby, Orlando, FL; her granddaughters Laura Meyer, Julie Brown (spouse Matthew Brown), Rebecca Raby, Orlando, FL; Danielle Meyer, Richmond, VA; and her great-granddaughter, Clara Meyer, Orlando, FL. Dolores was given the nickname “Happy” from her great- grandchild, Clara, when she was first able to speak, because Dolores was known for always smiling and having an infectious, upbeat personality.

Dolores attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, Virginia from 1950-1952. She was a past president of the Pink Lady Auxiliary in Winter Park, Florida, a member of the Retired Military Officers Wife’s Club, and member of First Baptist Church of Orlando, Florida. In her retired age, Dolores took a job at Stein Mart Department Store. She was well known for her classy and sophisticated style.

Dolores will be remembered for her loving and caring nature and a fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone she met. She had a quick and spunky wit that never missed a beat. To know Dolores was to love her. Even in her final days, her neighbors always made sure to ask how she was doing and check in on her.

A Memorial Service for Dolores will be held on May 3rd, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Winter Park, FL at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. We ask for all who attend to dress in bright spring and floral attire, as we believe this is what Dolores would have loved. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
