Dolores Ruth Howard Norris of Winter Park, Florida went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on March 3, 1934. She was the loving daughter of the late William T. Howard and Ruth (Cauble) Howard and sister to the late William T. Howard, Jr.
Dolores grew up in Salisbury, N.C. and graduated from Boyden High School in 1952. She would later meet her future husband, Dewey Norris of Spencer, N.C. in a small Salisbury restaurant while dining with her parents. They dated for a time and then were married in September, 1956. They moved to Winter Park in 1959 celebrating 44 years of marriage together until Dewey's passing in January 2000.
Dolores was an amazing house-wife, Mother, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, member of Aloma United Methodist Church, and an accomplished seamstress, making all of her families clothing, including numerous twirling costumes for daughter Debi, formal gowns and even a tuxedo! She took pride in teaching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to also sew. Once her own children were older, she worked at Leedy's on Park Ave. and later started working for F.W. Bell which became Sypris Test & Measurement where she retired in 2005.
Dolores loved to garden, travel to the mountains, BBQ, Chick-Fil-A and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a beloved "Mom" , "Grammie" and "Great Grammie" .
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Joseph) Lenczyk and twin sons, Jeffrey (Callie Hester) Norris and James (Brenda) Norris.
Eleven Grandchildren, Kellie (Jason) Hart, Kimberly (Tommy) Crenshaw, Kristina (Christopher) Kasavage, Lindsey (Jeremy) Patat, Emily (Cody Finch) Lenczyk, Kathryn (Trevor Kessler) Lenczyk, Matthew (Anna ) Norris, Mark Norris, Bradley ( Samantha Crawford) Jester, Ian Norris and Joseph "J.B." (Kathleen) Lenczyk.
Eleven Great-grandchildren, Taylor, Summer, Amber, Isabella, Savanna, Jackson, Ethan, Samuel, Ruth, Jacob and Rowen.
She is preceded in her death by her beloved husband Dewey, parents William and Ruth Howard and brother William Howard, Jr along with numerous Aunts and Uncles.
A celebration of Dolores' life along with the receiving of friends will start at 9:00 am Saturday, May 6, 2023 followed by a 10:00 am funeral service at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Winter Park Chapel, 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, Florida 32792.
Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, Fl.
