1932-2023
Dolores Romeo, a resident of Zellwood, Florida, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2023 at the age of 91, and is now reunited with her devoted husband, Lawrence Romeo.
Dolores Petraglia was born on July 1, 1932 in the Bronx, New York. There she met and married Lawrence Romeo in 1955. They had three loving daughters and moved to Florida in 1974. Dolores enjoyed cooking authentic Italian food for family meals and loved spending time with family and friends.
She touched many lives with her kindness and her laughter. She will be remembered as a loving mother and wife. Dolores is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Linda and Gary Holabird, Christine and John Russell, and Valerie Romeo and JoAnn Kimball.
Dolores fought Alzheimer's Disease for over 20 years with Larry by her side as her faithful caregiver until his passing in 2017. She resided at the Edgewater at Waterman Village in Mount Dora for the past 10 years where the caring staff there became members of her extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Alzheimer's Disease Research in her honor.
SERVICES AND GATHERINGS
Church services and burial will take place on Thursday, January 18th, 2024.
A mass will be said for Dolores at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6803 Old Highway 441, Mount Dora, FL 32757 at 9am followed by her burial at 11am at Pine Forest Cemetery, 1801 N Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, FL 32757.
