Jones, Jr., Donald B. (Donnie), passed away Saturday, February 11th. A 1972 graduate of Colonial High School he began his nearly 35-year career at Walt Disney World at the age of 18 . His career with Disney began in Food Services, but within a year transferred to Costuming where he became a Costuming Manager. He made a name for himself as the go-to person with wardrobe questions for anything needed across the world. Some of his career highlights were
Co-ordinating costumes for various Disney shows both locally and promoting Disney worldwide, such as Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Muppets, Goosebumps, Incredibles, and Fantasmic to name a few. He was also instrumental launching new parades such as the Bi-Centennial, Aladdin, and the Magic Kingdom Christmas Parade, and participated in non-park parades in various cities. Disney, as well as promotional shows in Hungary, South America, and worked on the Super Bowl Half time show in Tampa. He is survived by his parents Donald and Catherine Jones of Orlando, the mother of his daughters Patricia Fox, his daughter Crystal Jones, daughter and son-in-law Cassie and Terry McGough, daughter Bonnie Derry and his grandchildren Damian Fox, Ayzya Derry-Foster, Teandra , Terry, and Tiana McGough of Orlando. He is also survived by his brother Ronald Jones of Franklin NC, sister Diane Vaught of Orlando, and girlfriend Jody Christman of Ocala. Donnie was a devoted family man, who loved life and family and will be missed by all those who survive him, as well as his co-workers who admired and loved him also. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2006 in Parkway Baptist Church 9000 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday, February 17, 2006 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and at church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time.
