Donald Arthur Embree

October 18, 1929 — January 20, 2022

It is with great sadness that Debbie and Doreen announce the passing of their Dad, Donald Arthur Embree. He went peacefully to be with the lord on 01/20/2022 at 1:03PM resting comfortably in his home.

Don was born in Wakefield, MA on October 18, 1929. He joined the Army in 1949 as a mechanical engineer and retired from the Air Force in 1969 with the rank of Chief Master Sargent. He served his country for 22 years. Don then dedicated his life to teaching at Seminole State College, formally known as Seminole Community College. He was a pioneer of his time starting the Electronics program where he taught and helped grow an increasing knowledge base of an up-and-coming field that would continue to change the world.

After retiring from teaching, Don focused on the community of Greater Orlando by volunteering to feed the homeless monthly and working with the Sea Scouts. He was a faithful worshipper at Aloma United Methodist church where he and his wife Donna Embree were members for over 40 years. He actively served as an usher welcoming his fellow churchgoers into the house of God. Don was also a leader of the Men's Club providing dinners for others and brought the joy of Christmas to many families with their Christmas tree sales. He was also actively involved in Boy scouts for many years not only as a mentor but also the treasure of their local chapter.

After the passing of his beloved wife, Don moved his devotion and time to the Goldenrod Civic Club. He ran bingo and card games there, diligently providing entertainment for those in need. He then went on to serve as President and treasurer of the club for multiple years bringing great joy to himself and the community he so loved.

His legacy remains protected and carried on by his two daughters, Debbie and Doreen, his 4 grandchildren, Tiffany, Amanda, Christopher, and Sara, and his beloved great-grandson Noah. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you to make a donation to his beloved community through one of the following organizations: Florida United Methodist Children's Home to their website at www.fumch.org or mail a check to Goldenrod Civic Club at: PO Box 204 Goldenrod, FL 32733.
