Donald Lee Moore, age 85, of Longwood, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Longwood home.
Donald was born on June 21, 1935 in New Vienna, OH, son of the late Linley and Florence (Redkey) Moore. He met and married the former Nancy Letourneau, and they would be celebrating 48 years in July. Born and raised on the family farm, he had a love for horses. He often rode his horse Star to school. After graduating high school, he cut timber for a local company in Ohio. He then would move to Florida learning to build pools and doing brick and stucco work on homes. He had a successful pool company, D & N Pool Service, servicing the local area all the while he was a bus driver for 28 years for Seminole County Public Schools before retirement. Don had a love for music. He was a gifted musician able to play any tune for you on his guitar; in his earlier years, playing with well-known country music musicians. His choice of music would change to Gospel as he came to know and serve the Lord regularly playing at church and festivals.
Donald is survived by his loving wife Nancy L. Moore of Longwood; his sister Linda Carson and husband Larry, of New Vienna, OH, his two sons, Ronald Rigdon of New Vienna, OH, and Phillip Summersill of Apopka; his four daughters, Cindy Rigdon of Lincolnton, GA, Cheryl Hovermale of Sanford, Tammie Broderick and her husband, Mike, of Deltona, and Theresa Blazina and her husband, Greg, of Apopka; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Ann Luck, a brother-in-law Robert Luck, and a son, Terry R. Summersill.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Seminole Chapel, 335 E. State Road 434, Longwood, with Brother Stacy Goodbread officiating.
Visitation with the family will precede the service on Monday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Longwood Memorial Gardens, Longwood.
Reception to follow at the Longwood Community Building – 200 West Warren Ave in Downtown Longwood.
