Donald Smyrk

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald W. Smyrk, age 73 of Winter Park who passed away on May 19, 2005 will be celebrated Tuesday, May 24th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park with Reverend Richard M. Walsh as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park. Don was born on August 20, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Charles and Angie Smyrk. He graduated from Fordham University in 1954 and received his Master's Degree from Stetson University in 1973. He married Joan Kirk in 1956 and had 3 children. The family moved from Long Island to Florida in 1969. Don was a retired teacher who served as an usher at St. Margaret Mary Church for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan, and his children and their spouses- Donald and Lana Smyrk of Merritt Island, FL; Thomas and Arlene Smyrk of Phoeniz, AZ and Laurie and Mark Geving of Altamonte Springs, FL. Don had five precious grandchildren- Kaleigh and Billy of Merritt Island and Victoria, Caroline and Jackson of Phoenix. He leaves behind, his brother, E. Rodney Smyrk of Vero Beach, FL and his sister, Louise Beyer of Hartford, N.Y.
