Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Hurst Dulion went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2023 at the age of 104. She was born Dorothy Virginia Hurst on December 12, 1918 in Leeds, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Frank Randolph Hurst and Alma Ellenburg Hurst, and the sister of Monte Carl Hurst, Anna Frank (Hurst) Chapman, and Mary Jo (Hurst) Mullin.
She was a member of the Leeds Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1937 and Auburn University in 1941, where she got her degree in Home Economics Education. She founded the college's chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority. While at Auburn she met her future husband, William Edward Dulion, and after graduation taught school in Alabama and Kansas. She married Bill in Birmingham, Alabama on July 10, 1943. She was a devoted wife and mother, moving to many different places during Bill's military career. In 1970 Bill retired as a full Colonel in the Air Force, and they moved to Maitland, Florida.
Dot continued to live in their house after Bill's passing in 2007 and only one year ago moved to Allegro Assisted Living. She was cherished by her family and the many friends and neighbors she made over the years. She was known best for her amazing cooking and sewing talent, reading almost every book at the Maitland library, along with walking miles a day into her later 90's and on her walker after that.
Mostly Dot was known for always being available to listen well and laugh a lot. She lived out her faith through her actions and service to others.
Dot was the mother of five children, Pat Dulion Hasbrook (Bob), Amanda Dulion Dodgen, Lark Dulion Flint (Chuck), Michael Randolph Dulion (Darly), and Cheri Dulion Barkman (Kevin). She was Granny to seven grandchildren, Teal (Will), Michelle (Josh), Robin (David), Lorren, Sean (Juli), Matt and Bobby (Ashley).
She was great Granny or GiGi to nine great grandchildren, Charlotte, Bella, Grayson, Kennedy, Ryleigh, Reid, Bennett, Daisy and Miles.
A Celebration of Dot's life will be held on June 10, 2023 at 11:00AM at Altamonte Chapel, 825 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, Florida, followed by a reception in their Social Hall.
