Dorothy Maldonado Luke

February 6, 1930 — November 28, 2022

Dorothy Maldonado Luke, age 92, of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Dorothy was born to the late Julius and Martha Vallejo on February 6, 1930 in Horton, Kansas. She grew up in Des Monies, Iowa, where she attended St. Anthony's Catholic School and graduated from Tech High School Class of 1948. Dorothy trained at Delta Airlines in Atlanta, which took her to Miami where she worked, played on the beach and wrote letters to the love of her life, Arthur Maldonado. Upon Arthur's return from WWII and Korea, they were married at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. They raised four children in Des Moines. After Arthur's untimely death from cancer, Florida called her back. She moved her family to Orlando in 1979.

She met and married Ivan Talmadge Luke in 1984 until his death in 1995. Dorothy's favorite thing to do was read. She took great pride when she received her first library card as a child. She loved to travel, took many trips to Europe, Mexico and all across the USA.

She is preceded in death by her youngest child, Phyllis Kalinowski, three brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Marie Stallard, son, Thomas James Maldonado, son, Arthur S. Maldonado Jr, sisters, Florence Terronez and Linda Patten, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be planned for the Spring of 2023 when her beloved Lilacs are in bloom in Des Moines, IA. Please check back for updates.
