Dr. John Garon Galloway, age 68, of Orlando, FL passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 after a long battle with Lewy Body Disease.
He was born on August 1, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his father, John Garon Galloway Sr., his mother, Helen
McLaughlin and his son, Garon Galloway.
John went to college at the University of Alabama and Birmingham Southern and majored in Religion. He then went on to receive his Master's Degree at Candler School of Theology at Emory University and later received his Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
During his much accomplished career as a pastor, a Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Clinical Pastoral Educator, John worked for the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church for 43 years. During the last part of his career, John created a CPE program for Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
John embodied peace, calm and graciousness for all those who knew him. The smile in his voice, his full laughter, and that peace and graciousness will be carried on by so very many people that he touched through a life of love and care. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Galloway; daughters, Kacy McClean, Jojo Wise, Laura Burrough and Leigh Hoskins; son, Bradley Keller; brother, Mike Galloway; eight grandchildren and numerous friends and colleagues who all loved him.
Family, friends, and others whose lives he touched are invited to a memorial service and celebration of life on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 125 N Interlachen Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789.
