Dr. Winslade Anthony Bowen "Bob" was born on December 24,1957 in Kingston, Jamaica. He was the son of the late Pastor Buster Bowen and the late Mrs. Hazel Bowen.
Bob attended Pembroke Hall Primary School and Jamaica College.He completed his medical degree at The University of the West Indies. He completed his pediatric residency training at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital (Harlem Hospital) and his neonatology fellowship training at New York Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City and worked there after completing his fellowship. He moved to Orlando, Florida in 1995 and worked in the Florida Hospital system for over 20 years as a Neonatologist.
He was married to Dr. Audrey Bowen for 32 years. He is survived by her and their two wonderful children; David Andrew Bowen and Michaela Adelle Bowen, as well as his 5 siblings: Dr. Marcia Bowen Ericksen, Mrs. Karen Bowen-Clarke, Mrs. Sandra Headlam, Ms. Juliet Bowen, Ms. Michelle Bowen Esq., and his beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bob loved his family. He had genuine compassion for the marginalized. He enjoyed playing tennis, running, cooking omelets, and making us laugh. He gave 150% in all of his endeavors. He loved Jamaica and was involved in several initiatives to help his homeland as part of the Brother's Keeper International non- profit organization in which medical supplies were donated to Jamaica and the Caribbean.He was a shepherding elder at Northland Church, and was involved in the Youthful Offenders Prison Ministry in Sumter County. He had a powerful influence in the lives of these young men. He affected their lives in a positive, intangible manner.
Bob passed away on December 6th, 2018 in Orlando, Florida. He will be missed by his family, friends and the many lives he touched. He lived a full, good life and is now at rest with our Savior.
