Edbert James "Jim" Mendez, age 44, of Orlando, Florida, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his home in Orlando, Florida.
Jim was born August 30, 1974 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to parents Jaime and Hilda (Ceballos Ruiz) Mendez. He graduated from South West High School in San Diego, California in 1994. He worked briefly to become a forest fire fighter after graduation in the Sacramento/Chico, California area. And finally worked proudly at Harris Corporation where he would use his skill to work soldering parts for aircraft and satellites at Aircraft Engineering & Installation Services Inc.
Jim leaves two beautiful children with us. He is survived by his daughter; Angelina Mendez-Ibarra (Austin Ibarra) and his son; Christian Mendez.
He is survived by his cherished and loving mother Hilda Nuñez, step-father Julio Nuñez, and father Jaime Mendez. He also leaves his brother; Carlos Nuñez, sisters; Bernadette Mendez Maldonado (Antonio Maldonado), and Marisol Mendez-Conklin (Jeff Conklin). His nieces; Desarae Maldonado, Miranda Maldonado, Olivia Ortega Conklin, and Maddie Conklin. And his nephew; Jake Conklin.
Jim was a true and honorable man to everyone that knew him, family came first no matter what and he always made sure to stay connected with every one of them. He was very close to his Colombian roots and would always try to center his life around the culture. His children were the most important thing in the world and lived everyday by them. He met his beautiful fiance Luz Adriana Mendoza Barreto on April 3rd, 2016 in Colombia. On January 14th, 2019 he proposed to her, and had plans to start a future with her.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Sunday March 10 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Orlando, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822. The Funeral Ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm.
