Eileen Ruth Murphy, age 95, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She was born on July 26, 1927 in Duluth, MN to parents Arnold and Marjorie Irgens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Thomas Murphy; and her husband, Thomas James Murphy.
She is survived by two children, Steve G. Murphy of Altamonte Springs and Sherry M. Fischer (Gary Fischer) of Longwood, FL; grandchildren Michael T. Murphy II, Christine E. Sullentrup, Jennifer L. Fischer, and Melinda F. Byrne (Jason Byrne); great-grandchildren Gillian Murphy, Cade Sullentrup, Cole Sullentrup, Avery Blenis, Michael Blenis, and Ansley Byrne; sister Dawn Parker of Windsor, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. All who knew her will miss her greatly.
Eileen resided in Pinellas County from the late 1950's until 2012 when she moved to Longwood to be near family. She was a longtime member of the Sanlando United Methodist Church in Longwood. Over the past 5 years, she loved living at Cascade Heights, and she was the President of the Resident Association for the past year as well as one of their Ambassadors.
She worked for AAA Travel until retiring at the age of 85! She loved traveling the globe with her husband for many years.
She fiercely loved her family (including the English Bulldogs!) and her faith. During her life, she wore many hats with volunteering at schools, scouts, and church.
