Elizabeth G. Wurtele

Wurtele, Elizabeth G. age 96, passed away on July 20, 2006. She was born in Tampa, Florida in 1909 and was the daughter of Samuel and Gertrude Griffis (deceased). She had one sibling, a twin sister, Lucile Hippenmeir, (deceased). She married the late Col. Harold S. Wurtele in 1937. In 1947 they established the first film production studio in Orlando called Wurtele Film Productions. Their company specialized in sports and industrial film production throughout the United States and Canada. They filmed local events and attractions in the Central Florida area including speed races at Daytona Beach, Cypress Gardens, as well as the Florida State University Circus. Elizabeth was involved in several organizations and charities including: Pilot Club of Orlando and Winter Park, Florida United Methodist Conference, Orlando Humane Society, YWCC, and was an alumni of Florida Southern College. Elizabeth is survived by her nephew Robert Hippenmeir, Tampa. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home located at 895 S.
