January 9, 1944 — June 8, 2020

Preston Boss, age 76, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ellsworth Peffer Boss, mother, Fannie Lou Boss, and late wife, Sharon Boss.

Boss, Tilly Boss, Hailey Boss, Sophie Smith, Amelia Smith, Lizzie Smith, Lorelai Mathurin, and Stacy Mathurin, Jr., and sister, Bonnie Lou Harnish. Preston grew up on West Central Boulevard in Orlando, where his mother ran a boarding house. At age 17, he joined the Army, where he trained in Fort Benning, GA. After serving as a wireman/electrician for three years, he returned to civilian life for a brief period of time before he enlisted in the United States Navy. He became a Seabee and was stationed at Anacostia Naval Base before being deployed to DaNang, Vietnam, in 1964.

A master carpenter by trade, he was founder of Boss' Creative Craftsman, LLC. Through the years he made custom trim and mouldings and installed doors in commercial buildings throughout Central Florida.

Preston grew up at First United Methodist Church of Orlando, where he met his late wife, Sharon, while singing in the choir. That began many years of great adventures traveling, camping, kayaking and canoeing with their sons.

They later joined Aloma United Methodist Church in Winter Park, where they continued to sing in the choir. Preston could always be counted on to help out around the church wherever he was needed. He was a leader for Boy Scout Troop 246 and enjoyed trips to Camp La-No-Chee and Camp Daniel Boone.

After Sharon passed in 2004, Preston married Nancy Jackson in 2006. They moved to Charlotte, NC, in 2011 where he was active in VFW post 2423 in Indian Trail, NC. They returned to Central Florida in 2017.
