God-loving, kind, caring, thoughtful, dear, quiet, unassuming, devoted wife, loving mother, affectionate grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, inspiring, and survivor are some of the words used to describe Elsie Louise Bauer Fritz. Jesus called her home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. She was welcomed into The Kingdom by her loving husband, Stewart, two of her daughters, her only sister, her parents, her in-laws, and countless relatives and friends who preceded her in their arrival in heaven.
Elsie was born in Columbus, Ohio, on February 1, 1930 to Leo and Loah Bauer. Her family moved to North Tonawanda, New York when she was a young child where she attended "grammar school" and high school. In school is where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Stewart Fritz, in 1951.
During a four-year enlistment in the United States Air Force at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, their first two daughters were born. When discharged, they visited longtime friends in Orlando, Florida. They fell in love with the climate that was much more comfortable than up-state New York and decided to relocate to The Sunshine State. In 1957 they purchased a brand new, "state of the art, modern" home in Winter Park where she resided until her celestial graduation.
Elsie is survived by three of her five loving daughters: Juanita Jan Coventry, Melissa Rivera, and Lenelle Lang. She is a loving grandmother to 15 and a devoted great-grandmother to 21 youngsters.
In addition to caring for her family, Elise was employed by Woolworth's Five and Dime, Whurlizter, Rollins College, and Winter Park Telephone Company.
Her heart of service was demonstrated through her involvement with various churches including, but not limited to: United Methodist Church in North Tonawanda, New York, Bethany Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) in Orlando, Winter Park Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) in Winter Park, and Aloma Baptist Church, in Casselberry as well serving as a Girls Scout troop leader for decades.
Friends, family, and animals were the center of Elsie's life. She enjoyed shopping, interacting with friends, square dancing, shopping, caring for her dogs and cats, playing cards with friends, shopping, sewing, visiting with grandchildren, shopping, baking, decorating cakes, shopping, conversing with her circle of companions, dining "out," and oh yes, shopping!
She had a love for gardening and was equally passionate about animals (especially dogs) and enjoyed indulging the backyard birds. She dedicated countless hours tending to the plants she lovingly placed in the yard and groomed, creating a safe and beautiful haven for her chirping companions and the visual enjoyment of others. Feeding her feathered little friends brought her great delight as did catering to the squirrels saying, "They need to eat, too!"
A visitation will be held from 10:30 am - 11:00 am on Saturday January 22nd at Aloma Baptist Church, located at 1815 SR-436, Winter Park, Fl. 32792. The Funeral Ceremony will begin at 11:00 am. Internment will be on Sunday January 23, 2022 10 am at Glenn Haven Memorial Park, located at 2300 Temple Dr, Winter Park, FL 32789.
