Ernest Monroe Throckmorton, 97, of Sanford, Florida passed away March 28, 2022 at the Orlando VA Medical Center in Orlando, Florida.
Ernest was husband of the late Evelyn (Smallwood) Throckmorton for 50+ years. Ernest was born in Henrico, Virginia on July 3rd, 1924, the son of Dudley and Elizabeth Throckmorton. He grew up on a farm in Virginia and served in the US Army as Corporal during WWII.
Ernest was a strong willed, hard working man who took great pride in his family. His appreciation for life showed every day in all that he did, often sharing in a good laugh or story with anyone who cared to listen. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors when in need. He liked to stay busy with projects outdoors and in his spare time he loved the local dog track and trying his luck at scratch-offs. He was a very skillful and crafty man who had the capability of fixing anything handed to him, no job was beyond him. His presence in the life of others will be deeply missed as he was loved and respected by many.
Ernest is survived by his son, Jerry Throckmorton and wife Faye; granddaughter Kelly White and husband Bradley White, and great-grandson Lincoln Monroe White. His daughters Betty Sumera and Dorothy Merlino. Stepchildren: William Pridemore, Hugh Pridemore, Margaret Nolan-Cox, and Brenda Ennis. As well as numerous grandchildren.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions in Longwood, Florida. A funeral service will begin at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will also be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
