Eudis Calderon, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2017. He was affectionally called Lelo.

He was survived by his beautiful bride of 57 years Marianita Calderon, 8 children, Eddie Calderon, Yolanda Calderon-Horn, Yvonne Calderon, Maria Calderon-Delaney, David Calderon, Sammy Calderon, Carolyn Bushong, Joel Calderon, 11 grandchildren, Vanessa Sotomayor, Jessica Sotomayor, Andrae Calderon, Mandy Calderon, Jonathan Calderon, Sarah Tellado, Josh Calderon-Horn, Melissa Tellado, Victoria Delaney, Macy Calderon, Joseph Calderon, Kaden Bushong, 5 great-grandchildren, Kaley Sotomayor, Madison Cruz, Andrae Calderon Jr., Emma Calderon, Ella Fulford, sons and daughters in-law Peter Horn, Karl Bushong, Tina Calderon, David Delaney and Lydia Calderon.

Lelo was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to Evaristo Sr. and Maria Rodriguez Calderon. His birth mom passed away when he was a young child. His father remarried. Juana Flores and Evaristo Sr. raised Lelo and his two brothers. Evaristo and Juana went on to have 9 children of their own and at various times were guardians of others. Lelo's youthful days could be described as had adventurous.

Lelo loved horticulture. He was great at tending anything he planted from tilling to harvest.
Lelo loved octopus soup, grilled Italian-sausage, ginger tea, and all the Puerto Rican delicacies.

Lelo enjoyed playing maracas in church. When he was younger he would join his family in parrandas (Christmas caroling) which is a traditional celebration in the Puerto Rican culture. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren how to play Chinese checkers. Many wonderful hours were knitted together as attempts were made to out maneuver Lelo's skill. Most times in his gentle way he demonstrated an unmatched cleverness. Card games was another diversion Lelo thoroughly enjoyed. He was an avid Cubs fan!

Lelo earned a living working at various places which included Indiana's steel mill. Lelo was also a butcher and a store owner.
Lelo was a man of faith. He loved the Lord! He would often reach for a prayer box filled with names of people.
Lelo stirred hearts with his gentleness, humility, patience and tenderness. His nurses often received his prayer for their well-being straight from his hospital bed. It was rare to see him give in to anger. His approach to nearly everything was with serene resolve, and often cited that love overcomes even the harshest conditions.

Lelo was remarkably kind.

Fue sobrevivido por su hermosa esposa Marianita Calderón ( unidos 57 años) 8 hijos, Eddie Calderón, Yolanda Calderón-Horn, Yvonne Calderón, María Calderón-Delaney, David Calderón, Sammy Calderón, Carolyn Bushong, Joel Calderón, 11 nietos, Vanessa Sotomayor, Jessica Sotomayor, Andrae Calderón, Mandy Calderón, Jonathan Calderón, Sarah Tellado, Josh Calderón -Horn, Melissa Tellado, Victoria Delaney, Macy Calderón, Joseph Calderón, Kaden Bushong, 5 bisnietos, Kaley Sotomayor, Madison Cruz, Andrae Calderón Jr., Emma Calderón, Ella Fulford, yernos e yernas Peter Horn, Karl Bushong, Tina Calderón, David Delaney y Lydia Calderón.

LELO nació en San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Sus padres eran Evaristo y María Rodríguez Calderón. Su madre biológica entro a la eternidad cuando era un niño pequeño. Su padre se volvió a casar. Juana Flores y Evaristo criaron a LELO y a sus dos hermanos. Evaristo y Juana pasaron a tener 9 hijos y en varias ocasiones fueron guardianes de otros.

Los días juvenil de LELO podrían ser descritos como aventureros. LELO amaba la horticultura. Él fue experto en el plantó y la cosecha. LELO le encantaba la sopa de pulpo, salchicha italiana a la parrilla, el té de jengibre y todas las delicias puertorriqueñas. LELO regocijó tocando maracas en la iglesia. Cuando él era joven se unía a su familia en parrandas (villancicos navideños) la celebración tradicional en la cultura puertorriqueña. Le encantaba enseñar a sus hijos y nietos cómo jugar Chinese checkers. Muchas horas fueron tejidas maravillosamente con el intento de sobrepasarle en su juego. La mayoría de las veces su forma germinaba muy gentil. Juegos de cartas fue otra diversión. ¡Era un ávido fan de los Cubs!

LELO trabajo en varios lugares incluyendo el molino de acero de Indiana. LELO también fue carnicero y dueño de tienda.

LELO era un hombre de fe. ¡Amaba al Señor! A menudo sacaba a una cajita de oración llena de nombres de personas.

LELO conmovió corazones con su dulzura, humildad, paciencia y ternura. Sus enfermeras recibieron a menudo oración por el bienestar de ellas desde su cama de hospital. Era raro verlo ceder a la ira. Su acercamiento a casi todo fue con la resolución serena citando a menudo que el amor sobreviene las condiciones más duras.
