Feraldyne Virginia Sullivan, 88, of Orlando, Florida, died of natural causes June 16th, at home surrounded by family and her priest.
She was born Sept 13, 1920, in Gadsden, Alabama, daughter of the late Alonzo Crump and Jonnie Bell Summers. She was later adopted by step-father John Vaughn. She lived in varied places such as New Orleans, Chattanooga, Birmingham, and Cleveland. She graduated from St. Alexis Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland Ohio on September 22, 1941. She married the love of her life John J Sullivan on June 6, 1942.
She moved with her family to Orlando, Florida, in 1948. She was a private duty nurse and then became a Head Nurse at Orlando Regional Medical Center. She retired in 1983 but remained an active member of the Florida Nurses Association. She will be remembered forever for the warm and inviting home she created and the wonderful meals that always graced her table. She was an avid gardener, sports fan, and music lover. She was also a dedicated parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving family: son John Sullivan and wife Ivonne, son William Sullivan and wife Jan, son Jerry Sullivan and wife Linda, daughter Kathleen Bliss and husband Jim, son Patrick Sullivan and wife Sandra, and daughter Mary Lindsay and husband Jim, all of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and her niece Charlotte Ann Crump.
Visitation will be held from 6PM-8PM Thursday, June 18 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895. S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando. A Mass will be held at 10AM Friday, June 19 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church 5902 Oleander Drive, Orlando. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.
