Florence Taylor, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2020, following a longtime battle with congestive heart failure. She was born on October 10, 1941 in Nassau, Bahamas; and in the late seventies, she moved with her children to Brooklyn, New York, where she spent most of her life before moving to Altamonte Springs, FL where she lived out the remainder of her days.
Florence, known as Grammy, Aunt Flo or Flo, by many of her family and close friends, loved to host parties and gather the family for good food, straight conversation and good laughs. She was truly the matriarch of the family and the glue that helped to keep everyone together. Florence never forgot her Bahamian roots and gleaned her wisdom from fulsome and exciting life experiences, including all things Caribbean and proper to all.
Her legacy will live through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and anyone that had the honor of meeting her. She exhibited strength against adversity, beauty from within and love to all.
Florence is survived by her children, Fiona Abdur-Razzaq and her husband Galen, Linda Posner, Daniel Ferguson, Donna Liverpool and her husband Earl, Kendall Taylor and his wife Yonette, and Niven Taylor; her grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory, Tameka Alsop and her husband Shawn, Geno Simms, Alinica Ferguson, Chantel O'Toole, Harold Pugh, Donnell Liverpool, Daniel Ferguson Jr., Niecy Ferguson, Nina Ferguson, Janelle Taylor, Amber Taylor, Krystal Taylor; additionally her great-grandchildren, Tavier LaFontant, Talen Alsop, Jermaine Ferguson, Jordan Grant, Steve Benjamin Jr., Jadea Ferguson, Cianna Ferguson, Chayla Taylor, Ian O'Toole, Skye Taylor; her spiritual daughter, Renee Taylor; her dear Aunt Paula Williams and many other loving family members.
