Frances Sue Sandberg, 94, formerly of Winter Park, FL, peacefully passed away Friday, July 23, 2021 in Melbourne, FL. Frances was born in Big Lake, AR and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. She came to Sanford, FL in the early 1950's to teach school. She met her husband, Paul "Bob" Sandberg, and they lived in Winter Park where she taught at Lakemont Elementary School until retirement.
Frances was a long standing member of the Winter Park Presbyterian Church, a participant in the First United Methodist Church of Melbourne, a member of the Winter Park Women's Club and enjoyed a great game of croquet with the Winter Park Croquet Club. It can be said that she "never met a stranger."
Frances was a devoted wife for 59 years, a wonderful mother and "mamaw" and will be dearly missed. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life and she was famous for saying "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."
She is survived by her sons, Carl Robert "Skip" Sandberg (Debbie), Charles David "Chuck" Sandberg (Kelsie) and daughter, Cindie Bright Calise; grandchildren, Chelsea, Chad, Chase, Cord, Callee, Cameron, Anthony and Melanie; great-grandchildren, Elaina, Everett, Cora and Charlie; and sister, Sophia Anne Davis. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Bob" Sandberg, and brothers, John Charles Bright and David Bright.
Visitation is Monday, August 2, 2021 from 11:00 am to 11:30 am with a funeral service at 11:30 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Winter Park Chapel, 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, Florida 32792. A graveside service will then be held at Palm Cemetery, 1005 N. New York Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32789.
