Frances Keller Hungerpiller Welch, 83, of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2020. Frances was born on August 26, 1936, in Cameron, South Carolina. She was the third of four daughters born to Anna Ulmer and Leland Shuler Hungerpiller.
Frances graduated from Elloree High School, receiving a nursing scholarship to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. While attending school, she met Robert William Welch, who was serving in the Navy. They married on August 10, 1956.
Robert enlisted in the Air Force, and Frances continued her nursing career while balancing three children and several moves. The family settled in Orlando where Frances worked as a nurse at Orange Memorial Hospital for many years.
Frances had a servant's heart which showed in her career choice and in the kindness and love she shared with friends and family. Frances loved spending time with her family, whether playing Scrabble, going fishing, or baking sweets together.
Frances is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Welch, daughters, Laura (Steve) Goff of Geneva, FL, and Ann Marie Howell of Columbia, SC, son, Robert (Kris) Welch, Jr. of Indiana, PA and 11 grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was reunited in heaven with sisters, Sarah Foust, Anne Polin, and Dorothy Flake.
Visitation is Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral service starting at 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (East Orlando Chapel), 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822.
Interment will follow at 1pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
