Francisco Ilagan Beredo

d. July 27, 2011

Francisco Ilagan Beredo, age 69, of Orlando, Florida passed away on July 27, 2011. He was born on February 24, 1942 in Unisan, Quezon, Philippines. He studied Civil Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines and retired after 23 years of distinguished service in the United States Navy. He was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, husband and brother as well as a faithful Roman Catholic. He cherished his children.

He loved his house in Orlando. He remodeled and made expansions throughout the home with his own hands. He enjoyed carpentry and would build many things around the house. He especially loved his garden. He would spend hours watering his plants and sitting under his calamansi and mango trees, marveling at his self-made paradise. He definitely had a green thumb. He grew every fruit, vegetable, and plant imaginable, including his beloved rose bushes.

He also loved to keep busy in the kitchen. Whether it was making simple, delicious Filipino favorites or preparing his famous fried rice and lechon, he took great pride in serving people especially during the holidays and family gatherings.

Fishing was another favorite pastime of his, especially when he was with his three grandsons. If he could go fishing every day, he would.

In addition, he traveled the world, not only as a seaman in the U.S. Navy, but as a doting father, visiting his children during their school studies and careers around the country and abroad. He especially loved traveling to the Philippines, his homeland, and was very proud to be a Filipino.

Francisco lived a wonderful and full life and will be remembered especially for his generosity, hospitality, and willingness to go above and beyond for his family. He is survived by his wife, Lucrecia Beredo; his three children, Ferdinand Beredo, Leonora Beredo and Grace Beredo; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Beredo; and three grandsons, Richard Beredo, Raymond Beredo and Ryland Beredo.

A memorial gravestone will be placed in his honor at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia and his ashes will be buried in Unisan, Quezon, Philippines. Francisco will be greatly missed, always remembered and forever loved.
