Frank Hayden Briscoe, 91, died peacefully on January 23, 2022, in Orlando, Florida. He was born in Hollis, New York on November 15, 1930. He grew up in Queens before moving to Bay Shore on Long Island when he was a teenager.
Frank was a combat veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 45th Infantry Division ("Thunderbirds"). Until he retired, he worked for the Suffolk County (New York) Department of Public Works as a foreman. After retirement he moved to Orlando, Florida and worked for Gooding's and Central Florida Auto Auction, among others.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Marie (née Clock), daughter Kay and son Frank Thomas (Melissa) and brother Bertram (Lois), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Briscoe Sutton; parents Francis Hayden and Elsie Laura (née Gildersleeve); brothers Roy and Henry and sisters Elsie Joel, Blanche Sarringer and Lucy Gunderson.
The family will receive friends at Newcomer's East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd. in Orlando on Monday, February 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and the graveside service will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida at 10:00 a.m. Frank will be buried with full military honors.
