Frank Albert Schmidgall, age 70, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Frank was born on December 23, 1950 in Munich, Germany, son of the late Frank William and Hilda Schmidgall. Frank retired honorably as a member of the United States Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded many honors during his service to his country, most notably a Silver Star and Purple Heart from his tour of duty during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he went to work for the Federal Department of Corrections as an officer, and later retired as a bus driver for Mears Transportation.
Frank loved to be around children. He volunteered with disabled children with the Special Olympics and was a professional Santa Claus. Frank loved to see the joy on the kids faces that he was visiting.
Frank is survived by his three sisters, Claudine Rogers of Brandon, FL; Christine Yeh of Valdosta, GA, and Leonie Moore and her husband, William, Panama City, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mark Schmidgall; and a sister, Darlene Flood.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 2 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Seminole Chapel, 335 East State Road 434, Longwood, FL.
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, FL with honor guard services performed by the VFW Post 4287.
