Frankye "Jackie" Grant Chandler, 66, departed this life peacefully on September 5, 2016 in Altamonte Springs, FL. Jackie was born on July 22, 1950 in Ocala, FL. She was born to the late Frank Grant, Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Grant (Thomas). She was the beloved sister to ten siblings.
Early in life, Jackie discovered her creative abilities: making her own clothes and playing clarinet in the school's marching band. At the age of 14, she was dubbed "Little Miss Dynamite" because of her explosive style. She showcased her vocal talents across Central Florida, performing with the likes of Ike and Tina Turner. Jackie blessed us with many other talents over the years including drawing, event coordinating, fashion and interior design.
Jackie furthered her studies at Seminole State College where she earned a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. For the majority of her career, she was an educator and administrator in Orange County Public Schools. She spent much of her early adulthood mentoring and coaching young people as director/choreographer of drill team - drum corps for The City of Winter Park and The City of Altamonte Springs, respectively. Jackie dedicated the majority of her life to her passion: being a devoted wife and doting mother. She was predeceased by her very dear brother, Charley Grant.
Jackie leaves wonderful memories to be cherished by her daughter, CeWyon Chandler-Ward; sons, Toddrick Chandler and Cory Chandler; husband, James H. Chandler; grandchildren, Jai Chandler, Cory Chandler, II, Tekaiyah Chandler, Taylor Ward, Amahri Chandler, Johnathan Chandler, Reagan Ward, Amy'ah Chandler, Amana Chandler and Micah Chandler; sister, Catherine Josey; brothers, Calvin Grant, Sr., Danny Grant, Tony Grant, Bret Thomas, Frank Grant , Jr., Kennedy Grant, Bart Thomas, Wayne Thomas, and Anthony Grant; step-children and step-grandchildren, as well as a host of great-grandbabies, nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Her precious and kind soul will remain in our hearts forever.
Family will greet friends from 4:30PM to 5PM on Saturday, September 10th at Newcomer Funeral Home in Orlando with a Celebration of Jackie's Life to follow at 5PM with Pastor Kelvin L. Roundtree, Jr. officiating.
