Frederick Lee Dixon

October 10, 1946 — May 15, 2024

Frederick Dixon known as Fred, 77 formerly of Roanoke, Virginia passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in Orlando, Florida.

Born October 10, 1946 in Roanoke, Virginia to Thomas Frederick Dixon and Louise Earl Dixon. Fred graduated from Jefferson High School. Right after graduating from High School Fred joined the United States Marine Corps, and served 2 tours in the Vietnam War as a Machine Gunner. Following his service in Vietnam, Fred worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction and ran a successful landscaping business with his daughter Tracy. He loved working with her and taking her for lunch in the afternoon.

Fred met the love of his life Carolyn in 1981 and married her three years later. They loved traveling between their home in Florida and seeing family in Virginia. You could often find them enjoying a meal at their favorite restaurant, Olive Garden, or dancing at home to their favorite song. She was his one and only and Fred did all he could to care for Carolyn and show how much he loved her.

People might not have known when they first met Fred, but he had a tremendous sense of humor. He loved telling jokes and playing pranks. His laugh was truly infectious.

Fred will be truly missed by his family and friends. Fred would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket. Whether it was helping mow the neighbors yard or driving someone to the grocery store when their car broke down, Fred did what he could to help and take care of people.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Carolyn Dixon. His Daughter Tracy Dale, her husband Mike and grandchildren Devin and Hailey. His stepdaughter Melissa Kelly, her husband Chris and grandchildren Zachary and Zane. And beloved great grandchild Jovi. His son Frederick Scott Cooper, his wife Angie and grandchildren Afton, Katherine and step grandchildren Tyler and Amber.
