Garry Ferguson was born October 2, 1939 in Camp Creek, West Virginia. Our most giving and loving husband, father, and friend slipped from our arms October 31, 2008. Garry had the most vibrant personality and giving heart. Although he lived and loved Orlando, his home for 40 years, he took every opportunity to go back to his roots in West Virginia. Where he looked forward to visiting with family and friends at his residence in Indian Meadows.
Garry was student of life and a storyteller with a lifelong interest in different cultures and politics. A lover of history and an avid reader, his favorite author was James A. Michener. He was a talented songwriter and several of his songs were performed by local bands around town. He was inspired by the ocean and many family vacations were spent in the Florida Keys where he enjoyed camping and fishing. All of these passions he passed along to his children.
He is irreplaceable and for those who knew him the world will be a smaller place with him gone.
Garry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia and their three children Donna Stover, Leslie Penuel, and Sherri Bunye . Grandchildren: Christina Van Zee, Andrew Nelson Ferguson, Rachel Bunye, and James Stover Jr. Great Grandchildren: Shealynn Van Zee and Alyssa Van Zee.
The youngest of four sons, he is preceded in death by: his father, Clarkson Ferguson and mother, Essie Pritchard, brother Eule Lee Ferguson, and great grand-daughter Aria Van Zee.
Services for Garry Ferguson will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Orlando on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 1pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home the evening prior from 6-8 PM.
Goodbye Dad,
We love you
