Georgiana Garrido

June 3, 1952 — October 17, 2020

Georgiana "Georgie" Cummings Garrido passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Orlando, FL, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 68 years old.

Georgie was born June 3, 1952 in Buffalo, NY, to John and Kathleen Cummings. She graduated from Kenmore East High School in 1970 where she was a devoted member of the Iota Delta Mu sorority. On May 29, 1970, she married George Garrido at the St. Amelia Catholic Church in Tonawanda, NY. Georgie and George together had two beloved children - Anthony Jason Garrido (who passed away in 2016) in 1978 and Anna Nicole Garrido in 1979. While living in Buffalo, the Garrido family enjoyed spending time with friends and family. They enjoyed the snow and going to hockey games. Living in Buffalo sparked Georgie's love for the water. The Garrido family spent a lot of time on their boat in both the Niagara River and the Erie Barge.

In 1986, Georgie and her family moved to Orlando. Georgie quickly developed roots in Orlando and made many friends that quickly became family. While raising Tony and Anna, Georgie stayed home and enjoyed every minute of being a mother and wife. Georgie and her family spent countless hours on their boat in the Lake Conway chain of lakes and the intercoastal waterways. If she wasn't on her boat, you could find Georgie at the beach. She always said the beach was her medicine. She enjoyed boogie boarding, hunting for shells, and watching the space shuttle and rocket launches.

Georgie developed many new hobbies while living in Florida. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She had a passion for collecting antiques, especially clocks. She would joke that her house was timeless given the amount of clocks. Georgie enjoyed music, particularly from the Roaring 20s and ensuing decades. She took piano lessons and enjoyed playing the piano at her house. She loved classic films and watching her favorite news channel, Fox News. Georgie also loved dogs, decorating for the holidays, sitting on her back porch, and playing games. Georgie, although not a risk taker, enjoyed playing the slot machines at various casinos. She mostly played the penny slots and was always ecstatic to win!

Georgie was a loving mother and a devoted grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She attended school events, dance practice, hockey games, parades and concerts. Georgie had one rule with her grandchildren - there are no rules! She always put her children and grandchildren as her top priority.

Georgie was a lifelong believer in magic and spiritual relationships. She enjoyed hunting for spirits in new and historic towns she visited. She was a believer in magic and was able to understand many different aspects of the afterlife. She read books, watched documentaries, and collected items that made her feel closer to that realm.

In 2017, Georgie retired from Motorola. She worked for the communications side of the company focusing on accounts payable for 17 years. She enjoyed her job and made many friends along the way.

On May 29th, 2020, Georgie celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary to her husband George Garrido. Their love and relationship allowed them to truly build a life they were proud of. Together, they enjoyed every minute. Georgie and George traveled, enjoyed their hobbies, spent time with friends, and lived life to the fullest!

She is survived by her husband George Garrido, daughter Anna Ferratusco and her husband Matt, grandchildren Lily Grace Garrido, Chelsea Kate Garrido, Luca Nicholas Ferratusco and Gianna Toni Olivia Ferratusco, mother Kathleen Cummings, brother John Cummings, sisters Carolyn Davis and Patricia Quinn, and many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews, and their families.

Services will be held Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Newcomer Funeral Home at 895 S. Goldenrod Road in Orlando. Visitation with open casket will be from 12-4 pm, followed by a celebration of Georgie's life at 4 pm.
