Howley, Gerald Thomas- Age 79, of Orlando, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2003. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on June 20, 1924, the second of nine children to Thomas and Catherine (McCauley) Howley. He graduated from Hazletownship High School class of 1942. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served as an Airborne Radio Operator until 1946. He received his B.S. degree in 1950 from Mt. St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD and returned to the Air Force in 1954. He retired in 1972. Over his career he had many opportunities to travel all over the world, from Thailand to Turkey. In 1945 he had the privilege of seeing Noah's Ark on Mt. Ararat. Mr. Howley was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James and Thomas, sisters, Marcella, Mary and Catherine. He is survived by his sister, Teresa Fetter, Orlando, brothers, Richard, Leesburg and Donald, Orlando. Mr. Howley never had any children of his own but was a favorite Uncle to his many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 27, 2003 in Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4545 E. Anderson Road, Orlando, with Fr. Joe Aquino as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. in the Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando.
