Gerald L. Van Meter II, 54, of Orlando Florida, passed away August 24, 2023 from a long illness.
Jerry enjoyed the beach and the outdoors. He took his dearly loved Gobi, his Boston Terrier to the beach regularly.
His hobbies were exploring different cultures, painting and drawing landscapes, creating jewelry, and all the visual arts.
He took up music near the end of his life, particularly interested in music from the period of the middle ages. He also belonged to a group that reenacted medieval customs and battles.
He had a tattoo shop in the 90's in Titusville and was quite an accomplished tattoo artist. After a hurricane destroyed his shop a few years before hurricane Charley whipped through Central Florida in 2004, he went into commercial painting. Prior to his illness he worked at Premium Painting Company of Orlando.
He is survived by his mother, Lucille Warren, and step-father Robert Warren of Orlando, father Gerald Van Meter, and step-mother Carol of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; brothers, Thomas Van Meter of Orlando and Dustin Van Meter(Kelly) of Salem, Indiana; Sister Tonya Jewett of Georgia, step-sister Jennifer Warren Garrison(Ray) of Orlando, Aunt Brenda Register(Robin) of DeLand; Cousins Billy and Ryan, aunt Bonnie Kew of Winter Park, and cousins Jennifer Robin, Ashley and Chelsea.
We would like to thank cousin Jennifer Robin for the visits prior to Jerry's passing. He looked so forward to them and it kept him going.
In lieu of flowers, gifts to organizations that support cancer research and help cancer patients and their families would be appreciated.
Jerry was kind and helpful, and he will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.
