Geraldine Barnard

Geraldine "Jerry" Barnard, age 73, of Orlando, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Born in Helechawa, KY, Jerry and her husband Lawrence moved to central Florida in 1972.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and a dedicated wife and mother. Jerry held a variety of positions throughout her career as a bookkeeper and office manager in Kentucky and Florida, and retired from Waterford Homes in Debary, FL. She is survived by her daughter Jeanna Lorene Barnard of Orlando, son Rod Barnard and his wife Gail of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; son Bob Barnard and his wife Sharon of Tompkinsville, KY; her sister Jackie Justice of Pikeville, KY; grandchildren Joshua Barnard, Christy Barnard, Loree Barnard, and Guy Maddox; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her in-laws Curtis and Betty Barnard, Nell McGuire, Sue and Bill Brown, and Ginny and Jack Lester. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 2, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd., Orlando 407-277-4227, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 a.m. to noon. The graveside service, also on Friday, will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, where she will join her husband Lawrence who died in April of this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army for releif to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
