Hall, Gertrude (Trudy), 88, of Winter Park passed away on July 27, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia to Fred and Marceline Gillis. As a young child, the Gillis family relocated to Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was 6th of 7 children. In her early 20's Trudy became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States.
All that knew her remarked about her fabulous legs, and her laughter. She loved life and would embrace all opportunities. In 1945 she met her husband, Harold, at a USO show. She loved to dance. Their life together began in 1948 when they married. Trudy and Harold had 5 children together.
Trudy and the family moved to Orlando in 1959. Harold passed away in the mid 70's. Trudy was devoted to her family. She worked as a bookkeeper to support her family's needs. During this time, she looked after her mother. Her generous nature extended to those less fortunate.
After her children were grown, Mom embraced life. Her love of dance did not go away. She had a large circle of friends, who shared her love of dance, bridge, and traveling. We will remember her love of life and Halloween costumes she made for herself as well as for her grandchildren. She was a great inspiration to all that knew her.
She is survived by Pat (Jack) Sayyah of Houston, Texas; Michael (Carolyn) Hall, Bob (Debbie) Hall, David (Belinda) Hall and Donna (Tom) Page, all of Orlando. Her grandchildren, Jim, Rob, Steve and Marcy Simmerson and Alexandra Hall.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 31, at 11AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 Goldenrod Rd. Orlando 32822. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Pkwy., Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
