Gertrude Lillian Schielke was born on December 26th 1917 in Brooklyn, New York to Frederick and Lillian Schuhle. She was baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity as an infant and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Brooklyn in 1931.
Gertrude was married to Henry Schielke on September 23, 1939 and they had two sons, Henry Robert born in 1940 and Frederick William born in 1944. During her working career she was a secretary in a New York City bank, and later did secretarial work in a Lutheran Church in Queens, New York. She also was the secretary and office manager for her husband, Henry, who was a General Agent with Aid Association for Lutherans.
Gertrude played the piano in her church as a teen and also served many years as a Sunday School Teacher.
She moved to Oviedo, Florida from New Jersey in 1995 and from Oviedo to Lecanto in 2005. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lecanto.
On June 27, 2006 the Lord called Gertrude to her eternal home at the age of 88 years 6 months and 1 day. In addition to her parents and her brother she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Henry, who entered the church triumphant in April of 2005.
Surviving are her sons: H. Robert and his wife Lois, of Diamond Point, New York and Leesburg, Florida and Frederick and his wife Gail, of Lecanto, Florida: 5 grandchildren: Robert, Andrew, James, Philip and Rachel and 8 great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 2, 2006 in the Faith Lutheran Church, 935 South Crystal Glen Drive, Lecanto, Florida. Visitation will be in the church on Sunday from 5:00 PM until service Time. Interment will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Oviedo, Florida at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 3, 2006.
