Gilberto Bayardo Castellon

February 15, 1942 — September 8, 2020

Gilberto "Tito" Bayardo Castellon, age 78, of Casselberry, FL formally from Managua, Nicaragua passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. He was born on February 15, 1942 in his parents home in Managua, Nicaragua to Fredy Valencia and Felipe Castellon.

Gilberto obtained his bachelor's degree from La Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Nicaragua. He was married and had two children, Gilbert Castellon and Ismena Castellon. He then went on to teach at La Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Nicaragua and La Escuela Nacional de Agricultura y Ganaderia simultaneously from 1965-1975. In February 1965, he received a certificate from the Republic of Colombia in Physics and continued to teach at both schools in this field. In 1979, during the civil war in Nicaragua he immigrated to the United States, where he ended up living in California. He was then remarried to Vivian Esperanza Sediles, now known as Vivian Castellon, they had two children Vivian Lorena Castellon and Gilda Maria Castellon. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier from 1986-2007 and was part of the National Association of Letter Carriers. They would eventually move from San Jose, California to Casselberry, Florida due to a transfer request from the United States Postal Service. He received countless awards for his performance at work. He was dedicated and a hard worker, getting up before the sun rose and coming home after the sunset in order to provide for his family. He was loved by all who worked with him. After his retirement from the United States Postal Service in 2007, he decided to continue working as a tax preparer from 2007-2020. He enjoyed working and learning new things his whole life.

Every one that met Gilberto would leave with a smile and he would make sure of it. He enjoyed laughing and making people laugh. His smile and laugh were infectious to everyone he crossed paths with. He loved making breakfast for his family early Sunday mornings. Thick pancakes and eggs that only he knew how to make. They were his secret recipe. He was the biggest baseball fan there was out there but if you asked him to pick a team he hardly ever did. It was the love of the game and the sport that he enjoyed the most. By default, he would say Florida Marlins but all he really cared about was the game itself. The beach was his happy place, and he would go every chance he could get. He enjoyed soaking in the sun, being buried in the sand by his children and grandchildren and taking a dip in the ocean water. On the weekends you can find him out with his wife either at dinner or out dancing the night away. Gilberto and Vivian loved to travel all over the world, especially to Nicaragua to visit their family and stay in the vacation home they had bought together.

He was a loving, attentive and caring husband; an excellent grandfather, outstanding brother, admirable Tio and the best Papi we could ever have. He loved his grandbabies so much and he always made sure that they knew it.

Gilberto is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vivian Esperanza Castellon; his son Gilberto Castellon, his wife Teresa Castellon, his granddaughters, Brianna Castellon (May she rest in peace), Samantha Castellon, his grandsons, Thorn Castellon, Ridge Castellon, Julian Castellon, Gino Castellon, his great-granddaughter Felicity Castellon; his daughter Ismena Castellon, her husband Carlo Cortez, his granddaughter Giulianna Cortez, his grandson Giancarlo Cortez; his daughter Vivian Castellon-Velez, her husband Luis Velez-Figueroa, his granddaughter Kayla Smith, his grandson Daniel Velez; his daughter Gilda Castellon-Munoz, her husband Richard Munoz Jr, his granddaughter Isabella Munoz, his stepson Isaiah Munoz; and his grandpuppy Miss Olivia Raine Munoz aka Miss Oliva Newton John.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Fredy Valencia and his father, Felipe Castellon.
