Gillian Mary Darter age 86, of Orlando, Florida peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at her home surrounded by family in Orlando.
Jill was born on July 7, 1934, in Sawston, England, daughter to the late Kenneth and Kathleen Winifred (Mayes) Churchman. On May 5, 1952, she married the love of her life, Henry Thomas Darter. Jill and Henry met in England when Henry was stationed in the Air Force. While stationed in England, they welcomed their first child, Steven in 1954, and daughter Vicki in 1966, while stationed in Fort Worth TX. Jill's husband, children, and grandchildren were the most important part of her life.
Jill was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and great grandmother. Jill was one of the most selfless people, she was always devoted to her family. She enjoyed sewing for her family and was an avid gardener. In her younger years, Jill enjoyed bowling in a league and playing cards with friends. She loved to have her daily cup of tea and always enjoyed having a cup with her great-grandson, Corey. Jill was a hardworking homemaker and also enjoyed working at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando. Jill worked there with one of her childhood best friends, Sybil, for over 20 years, who also came to America from England. They kept in touch all their lives having spent many Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day dinners together, which also included their childhood friend ,Besty, who also came to America from England. All three married American Soldiers, moved to America, and stayed in touch over all these years.
Those left behind who will forever cherish Jill's memory are her husband of 68 years, Henry; her daughter Vicki Schram and her husband, Patrick, two grandchildren, from her son Steven, grandson Justin Darter and his wife Khrissy, and granddaughter Autumn Stevens and her husband Dave, two grandchildren from daughter Vicki, grandson Brody Schram and granddaughter Kasey Schram, and five great-grandchildren, Chelsea Ashworth, Tanner Caldwell, Corey Caldwell, Mackenzie Stevens, and Kylee Darter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Steven Darter; and sister Ann Page.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
A Graveside Service will take place at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill 2420 Harrell Rd. Orlando, FL 32817.
