Gisele Romulus Francois, age 80, was called home on April 9, 2013 at her residence in Longwood, Florida. Gisele was born December 4, 1932, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the daughter of Clement and Prima Romulus.
Gisele worked as an elementary and high school teacher with the Education Nationale (Board of Education) in Haiti for many years.
In December of 1960, Gisele married the love of her life, Gervais N. Francois. In 1970, Gisele joined her husband in New Jersey where she worked as a special education teacher in both elementary and high school. Gisele worked at Barlow Elementary School, Woodland Elementary School, and Plainfield High School, and was recognized for her untiring efforts, loyalty, friendship and performance during her 12 years teaching.
Gisele's nurturing and affectionate ways extended far beyond raising her 5 children. She was a loving sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.
Gisele moved with her family to sunny Longwood, Florida in 1993. She survived an aneurism and several strokes in 1994. With courage, strength, perseverance and the support of her loving family, she slowly recovered, despite her partial paralysis. Her vitality and caring spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Gisele was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Plainfield, New Jersey and Church of the Annunciation in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Gisele is survived by her husband Gervais Francois; sisters, Antoinine Granchamps, Rolande Pierre; brothers, Gerrard Romulus, Frantz Romulus, Eddy Romulus & Claude Romulus; son Philippe Francois and wife Sevriana; daughters, Abygael Francois-Ray and husband Robert, Elizabeth Francois-Holding and husband Anthony, Phoebee Francois and Margarita Francois-Ottinot and husband Hans; grandchildren; Shontae, Dalvin, Erikka, Philippe Jr., Shanecia, Arielle, Lia, Shelsy, Shanelle, Anthony Nelson, Gabrielle, Shadallia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1020 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, Florida on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 9am immediately followed by entombment at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
