Partin, Gladys Garnett, 98, loving wife, mother, sister and friend, born in Decatur, Alabama on February 15, 1912, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, in Orlando, Florida. She is preceded in death by husband Steele Hightower Partin, father William Jackson Garnett, Sr., mother, Ola Beason Garnett, and brother William Jackson Garnett, Jr. Left to treasure her memory are daughters Gladys Ann Partin and Elizabeth Lee Bell (Harold), sister Viola Knight (Robert), brother Finley Beason Garnett (Ellen) and sisters-in-law Joyce McGregor and Lois Garnett, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Gladys attended Judson College in Marion Alabama and graduated from Auburn Polytechnical Institute (Auburn University) in 1941 with a BS in education. She taught first grade in Orange County schools for 25 years. She was a life long member of the Downtown Baptist Church with a special love for the International Ministries, Sorosis of Orlando, Inc. and the P.E.O. The Family will receive friends at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 Goldenrod Rd, Orlando on Friday August 13, 2010 from 5-8. A service to celebrate her life will be held at the Downtown Baptist Church, 120 E.Pine St. on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with interment immediately following in Greenwood Cemetary.
