Gladys Opal Riley, age 89, of Orlando Florida passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Wednesday March 9, 2022. She was born in Hartford, Alabama on April 1, 1932 to parents Sanford and Thelma Adams. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was married to her husband Woody Edward Riley Sr for nearly 60 years. They met at church where they both attended while he was home on leave from the Navy. She served as a military wife for 22 years before they settled in Orlando, Florida upon his retirement. They vacationed in the mountains with dear friends they met during the military days.
(Opal) cherished spending time with family and friends. She loved our annual family reunions and always planned to attend. She was a homemaker with many talents, she enjoyed sewing in her younger years, and made many of her own clothes. She lived in several places across the United States raising 2 sons while her husband was out to sea.
She attended Friends Community Church in Orlando, Florida for close to 30 years. During the early years she served in the baby and toddler room alternating Sundays as well as a greeter on Sunday mornings. She always had a warm and welcoming smile as she greeted and welcomed everyone in on Sunday morning.
She is survived by her two Sons, Woody E Riley Jr of Orlando Florida, and Gregory D Riley (and his wife Kathy Riley) of Lakeland Florida. Two Grandsons, Woody E Riley III (and his wife April Riley), Noah G Riley and a Granddaughter, Deanne M Riley along with 4 great-grandchildren, a sister Ruth Lewis and Brother, Fred Adams.
