Floyd Glenn Gowen, age 78, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Advent Health East Orlando Hospital.
Glenn was born on June 6, 1941 in Lawrenceburg, TN, son of the late Thomas L. and Donna Clytee (Whitehead) Gowen. At an early age, Glenn relocated to Michigan where he married and started his own family, eventually settling in Florida. He was a general contractor and had a love of fishing, hunting, gardening and working on cars. He had a large family including several nieces and nephews and will be missed by all.
Glenn is survived by his two sons, Tony Gowen and his wife, Michelle, of Imperial Beach, CA, and Alan Gowen and his wife, Toshiko, of Orlando, FL, two daughters, Glenda McGraw and her husband, Mark, of Chuluota, FL, and Jennifer White and her husband Jerid, of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren, Misty Hicks, Bruce Johns, Kelsey Gowen, Max Gowen, Hannah Gowen, Nicholas Gowen, Tiana Gowen, an expected great-grandchild, Kai Hicks; two brothers, Don Gowen of Arkansas, and JR Gowen and his wife, Linda, of Florida; and two sisters Betty Mies and her husband Gene, of Michigan, sister, Sandra Wickens of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl Gowen, Roy Gowen, and Robert Gowen; and a sister, Sara Bennett.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 6:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, 32822 with Vincent Couch officiating.
Visitation is Tuesday, March 3 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
