Gloria Lafrance

Lafrance, Gloria- Affectionately known by her family as "Dody," passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008. She was born April 15, 1928, in Mechanicville, NY, to the late Frederick and Jennie DeCasperis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Lafrance. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Kelly Holmwood and husband David, and grandson Kevin. Also, sisters Mary Louise Shannon, Angela Daley, Patricia Geehr (Jack), and brother Frederick DeCasperis (Sharon), and sister-in-law Dora DeCasperis. She was preceded in death by her brother Anthony DeCasperis. She is also survived by brother-in-law Marcel Lafrance (Aline), and sisters-in-law Gisele Pilon and Muguette Turcotte, along with many nieces and nephews. Gloria grew up in Mechanicville and then lived in Miami, FL, for many years before moving to Montreal, Canada. The last several years she resided in Cocoa Beach, FL. She was very active throughout her life in a variety of women's clubs and church groups. She will always be remembered for her gentle ways, kind words, and love for her family. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 5-8pm at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, June13, 2008, at 11am. The family would like to extend a special thanks this past year to Sandy and Ron Robison for their exceptional care. Since Gloria had a lifelong devotion to St. Jude, we are asking that donations be made on her behalf to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
