Grady Neal Upshaw

Grady "Neal" Upshaw, 90 of Mableton, GA/Winter Garden, FL was born on July 26, 1919 in Atlanta, GA to Aubrey and Rachel Upshaw. He passed away on October 27, 2009 in Winter Garden and has been in the care of his niece, Quetta Sullivan since 1996. Neal was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving as a military policeman from 1942 until 1946 in the European and American Theatres. He married Emma Louise Dorminey in 1947 and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage before her passing in 1996. He was employed by Atlanta Gas Company for 43 years until his retirement in 1985. Neal was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. He is survived by his son, Larry Neal Upshaw and his wife Phyllis of Austell, GA; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Tracy Upshaw of Georgia and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 1:00-3:00 PM in the Chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL 32822. Final interment will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia under the direction of Davis Struempf Funeral Home.
