Greta Hebert passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of March 29, 2016. She passed in her own home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born April 14, 1936 in Chesnee, South Carolina to John W. & Corrine Henderson Fowler. She was raised in Caroline County, North Carolina with her siblings Harold, Brenda and Loretta. She had 2 sons Gary and Michael during her time in NC and eventually moved to Morgan City, LA. There she met and married Louis K Hebert with whom she had another son, Louis K. Hebert, Jr.
The family moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1966 two years after the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in North America devastated the city. There she was blessed with an additional son Kelly H. Hebert. The family enjoyed the wilds of Alaska with frequent fishing and camping trips. Greta was a member of the Anchorage Women's Club and Petroleum Wives Club.
After several visits to Florida, Greta and Louis took up permanent residence there in 2005, preferring the more hospitable climate. She enjoyed golf, often participating in and winning women's tournaments. She also enjoyed fishing with Louis on their boat. Greta made many great friends in Florida, some of whom helped her through her final days.
She was preceded in death by her son Gary, mother Corrine, brother Harold, and her husband Louis. She is survived by her sisters, Loretta and Brenda, her sons Michael (Haidee), Louis (Polly), and Kelly, grandsons Michael, Christopher, and Jonah, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a loving and loved sister, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.
Memorial services for Greta will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod, Orlando, Florida, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
