Hubert Norman Leocadia Gonsalves, age 91, of Orlando, Florida went home to Jesus on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Norman was born to Norman H. and Eloise Gonsalves on December 9, 1932 in St. John, Antigua, British West Indies.
Norman met his wife, the late Claire Marie Therese (Margand), in Castries, Saint Lucia, a match truly made in heaven. They married after dating for two years on June 12, 1954 and went on to have three children, Christina, Tessa, and Christopher. After traveling the world as an Air Force Senior Master Sergeant for 25 years, in 1979, they moved their family to Orlando, Florida.
Norman spent his life serving God through ministering to others. As a Catholic servant, he positively affected the physical and spiritual lives of many people by walking with them into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether it was through his participation in the Eucharistic, Marriage Preparation, and Prison Ministries; or through the Knights of Columbus and the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, many were blessed to encounter Christ and receive the love of God through him.
Now that Norman has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Norman’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him. Norman joins his parents, wife Claire, daughter Christina, grandson PJ, granddaughter Lauren, and two brothers, Jerome and Patrick, in Heaven. He is survived by many loving family members including his children Tessa Rochet (Shaun) and Christopher Gonsalves; his grandchildren Alexander Molina and Jordan Molina; sister, Christine Johnson (Robin) and brother, Kenneth Gonsalves.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 3rd at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4545 Anderson Rd, Orlando, FL 32812. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Norman’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675-8517.
Inurnment will take place at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL. on a later date.
