Harold C. Babine of Cascade Heights Independent Living Center in Longwood, FL, passed away February 7, 2021 at Advent Health Hospital in Winter Park, FL due to complications of the COVID pandemic. Harold is with Judy and his daughter Wendy
Harold was born August 23,1937 in, and raised and schooled in Kittery, Maine. Upon completion of High School, he enlisted in the Navy. Upon completion of boot camp and military schooling, he married his high school sweetheart Judith E. Babine, where they spent 28 years completely dedicated to the Navy and Country. Early in their 62 years of marriage, they produced three children: Jim Babine (Christine), Oviedo, FL, Mike Babine (Sue) Crestview, FL, and Wendy Babine Pevehouse who preceded both parents in death (December 2019). Other family members include eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Harold spent most of his 28 year Navy career (EMCM MCPO), serving on the Eastern Seaboard. Upon retirement from the Navy, he moved to Orlando, Fl in 1984, Then he spent years working in different businesses excelling in warehousing administration and organization. His final employment was with Publix stores, serving as a customer service ambassador. His outside activities and hobbies revolved around Boy Scouts of America, Lions Club, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), Fleet Reserve Association, the building of the Lone Sailor Memorial located in Baldwin park, Orlando, FL. He was also a volunteer for the Arnold Palmer Invitational annual golf tournament for over 25 years.
Because of the pandemic, a private service will be held at an unknown time with immediate family members. Inurnment will be at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL. The family asks that no flowers be sent. Donations may be made to VOSH @ voshsoutheast.org
