Harold F. Keene

July 21, 1932 — August 11, 2022

Harold Frank Keene, age 90, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, made his heavenly passage on Thursday, August 11, 2022, to join his beloved wife of 67 years, Lassie Mae Keene and together rejoice in the presence of the Lord.

Harold was born and raised in a small Appalachian mountaintop coal camp known as Jewel Ridge, Virginia on July 21, 1932 to Thomas Arthur Keene and Ocie Fuller Keene. Harold was the second oldest of five children, his brothers Victor and Thomas, who both preceded him in death and his sisters Carol and Jacqueline.

After graduating high school, Harold attended Bluefield Business College where he met his future wife, Lassie Mae Duty before enlisting in the United State Air Force in 1952.

Harold traveled extensively while in the USAF and was stationed in Knoxville, Tennessee and Houma, Louisiana before serving as an instructor for the ROTC program at the University of Michigan and at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland. He also served in Korea, Germany and various other temporary duty posts in the United States and abroad.

Harold served in the United States Air Force for 22 years before retiring after his assignment to McCoy AFB in Orlando in 1974. After retiring from the Air Force, Harold earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Southern College in 1977 and became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 1981.

After working for several years at a local accounting firm, Harold opened his own CPA practice in 1984 and for 38 years he worked doing what he enjoyed and that was providing personal, quality professional accounting and tax services to his clients. Harold was devoted to his clients and he especially enjoyed providing expertise in small business computer applications and consulting. Harold was extremely proud to have two of his sons working side by side with him as he successfully grew the business from a small single practitioner business with a handful of clients to the successful accounting firm of today.

Harold is survived by his three sons Harold Lee (Hal) and Linda Keene (wife), Thomas Randal (Randy) and Terry Cullen and Renee Keene (wife), Grandsons Tanner Keene, Joshua Keene and Cale Keene and Granddaughters Leah Martin and Kristie Halstead and husband Christopher and great grandchildren Morgan Martin, Aiden Halstead and Emily Halstead. Harold is also survived by his sisters Carol Rogers of Kingsport, Tennessee and Jacqueline Davis of Johnson City, Tennessee.
