Harvey Arthur Thomas
Harvey A. Thomas of Edgewater, Florida passed away on October 30, 2017 after a brief illness.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Dunshee Thomas. He is survived by his children Kathie Habruner of McMichaels, PA; Nancy Shea of Longwood, Florida; Keith Thomas of Wayne, New Jersey; Robert Thomas of Kailua, Hawaii; Harvey A. Thomas, Jr. of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Mr. Thomas grew up in Demarest, New Jersey and graduated from Tenafly High School earning an "all county" selection in football. He served his country in World War II and served his community as a fireman on the Demarest Fire Department.
Mr. Thomas retired with the title of Assistant Division Line Foreman from Public Service Electric & Gas Company of New Jersey after 40 years of service.
A loving, attentive father, Mr. Thomas took great pride in nurturing his family. An avid sportsman, Mr. Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, football and ice hockey.
In retirement, Mr. Thomas was active in the Edgewater Men's Softball League where he played until the age of 83.
As a man who considered himself "an average man" he was nothing short of exceptional in everything he did.
The family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, in his name.
