Helen T. Praria

May 23, 1932 — September 14, 2020

Helen T. (O'Rourke) Praria, loving wife and mother, was born in Peabody, MA on May 23, 1932 to Michael J. O'Rourke and Marie L. Comeau. At the age of 5 they moved to Salem, where she graduated high school. She married Guy B. Praria there on Christmas Day, 1950.

In the early 60's they moved to Concord, NH, where they lived many years before moving back to Massachusetts. They settled in Wayland, MA, for more than 30 years. Helen was a very active member of St. Zepherin's parish, there, and was a member of the church Women's Club for many years, even serving as its president. She taught CCD ("Sunday School") faithfully for many years, as well. She and Guy were happily married until his passing on September 24, 2016, after more than 65 years together.

Helen passed due to complications from Alzheimer's at S. Seminole hospital, Longwood, FL, on September 14, 2020 at the age of 88. She is predeceased by her older sisters Marie L. (O'Rourke) Wood; and Nancy C. (O'Rourke) Galvin; her brothers Phil and Lawrence O'Rourke; her nephews Mickey and Brian Wood and her niece Maura Wood; her niece Maureen O'Rourke; and her grandson, Nathan Langston.

She is survived by her three children, Guy M., Helen M., and Christine M. Praria; by two grandchildren, Beulah Elyse Langston and Clara Rose Langston; and by one great-grandchild, Ember Rose (Langston) Hernandez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Helen charmed everyone she met, always had a kind word for strangers, and was selflessly concerned for her children's well-being to the last. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
